Sharon Herlocher - Head Coach (7th season, 65-51-4) 2022 Mid Penn Commonwealth Coach of the Year

Sharon has coached at SCASD since 2016 and has been Varsity Head Coach since 2020. She spent 10 years volunteer coaching with PSUFH and 4 years with Boston University, stints with USAFH Futures (former Nexus) coaching, and 20+ years leading State College Club field hockey programs.  

Her love for the game came from playing for two USAFH Hall of Fame Coaches, Char Morett-Curtiss (Penn State) and Linda Kreiser (Lower Dauphin). “I’m so lucky to have had parents who supported and trusted these coaches in helping me grow, even when I was taxed beyond my comfort zone. Char & Kreis’ impact is why I coach today and indirectly helps every person who comes through our program. SCFH is developing incredible girls to become impactful, strong women in the world - three are on my 2026 staff! Welcome back, Leah, Maddie & Lilly!

Sharon and her husband Neil own and operate downtown businesses and are the makers of Herlocher's Dipping Mustard. They have 3 adult children, all in athletics. Their son coaches high school lacrosse at Warwick HS; their daughters are playing field hockey at Drexel and UMass Lowell. 

Fun Fact: She captained the gold medal-winning team at the ‘93 USA Olympic Festival, and woke up to see herself in color in USA Today’s Sports Section hoisting the American Flag!
 

Lucas Shaha – Assistant V/JV Coach, PSU ’26, SCASD ’22

Lucas enters his 5th year with the SCFH program and is a graduate of Penn State University and State College Area High School. During college, he spent four years volunteering with the State College Middle School field hockey program and three years with the high school program, gaining experience working with athletes across multiple age and skill levels. He has also coached through USA Field Hockey’s Nexus program and at Penn State Field Hockey recruiting camps.

At Penn State, Lucas spent four years as a manager with the Field Hockey program. He continues to support the program as a video analyst and camp coach. Lucas also serves as the State College Site Director for PA Revolution Field Hockey Club, where he helps lead local programming, player development, and club operations.

Outside of field hockey, Lucas competed with the Penn State Pickleball Team and served as Vice President of Legion of Blue, Penn State Men’s Basketball’s student section. He also serves as a head coach for State College Tennis Camps. Lucas is currently pursuing his master’s degree in Sport Business at Temple University.

Fun Fact: When he’s not coaching field hockey, Lucas runs his own private t tennis and pickleball lesson business all summer long. 

 

Leah Moyer — Head JV Coach,  IUP ‘26, SCASD ‘22

Leah Moyer serves as our Head JV Coach. A graduate of State College High School, Leah played both field hockey and lacrosse before continuing her lacrosse career at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She is currently completing her master’s degree in Sports Administration.

In addition to coaching, Leah works with Penn State Athletics through its summer camps and with Lions Pride. Leah comes from a strong field hockey family—her mother, Janelle, played field hockey at Ohio University, previously coached State College Middle School field hockey, and served as president of the State College Field Hockey Booster Club.

Maddie Tambroni - Volunteer - PSU ‘25 SCASD ‘21

Maddie, a 5-year PSU FH middie/defender, has been playing and coaching with passion, focus, and intelligence her entire life.  At State High, she was a standout field hockey and lacrosse player and super active in the school leadership opportunities. Maddie is an Emerging Advisor at Vicas Capital.  We are so grateful to have Maddie helping our team! 

It’s all in the family - Maddie’s father is the PSU Men’s Lacrosse Coach, mother, Chelle, is a former volunteer with SCASD, Blue Stripe Club Co-Founder, Coach, and Director, Head Coach at Cornell University and Towson University, assistant at Yale and has had numerous stints coaching in the USAFH world. Sister Carissa is an Assistant Coach at Stanford, and sister Ella is a sophomore playing at Michigan State University. 

Fun Fact: Grandmother Yvonne Frates is one of the most winning coaches in Vermont history. Her dad’s record isn’t too shabby either.  

 

 

 

Beth Shaha - Volunteer - Millersville ‘94, Bowling Green 

Beth brings mindfulness, connection, spirit, and balance to our staff. She is a Master Certified Life Coach and founder of The Grounded Canary, where she coaches individuals and teams around self-awareness, leadership, mental fitness, and living and leading with greater intention. All great skills to share with our student-athletes — helping them build confidence, resilience, self-awareness, and trust in themselves and one another. Beth holds a Master's in Education from Bowling Green State University and a B.A. in Psychology from Millersville University. In addition to coaching, she is an educator, facilitator, and community leader who believes deeply in meeting people exactly where they are and encouraging them forward. She is married to Danny and is the proud mom of Lucas, Lilly, and Delaney - all SCASD Field Hockey Alum!

Fun Fact: In addition to playing field hockey, she was the school mascot at Millersville University and Susquenita HS. 

 

 

Dina (Borrelli) Hillmann — Volunteer Coach

Dina found her way to Happy Valley from Ames, Iowa, with an impressive FH background as both a player and coach - a three-time NCAA champion- where she had the opportunity to learn from legendary coach Beth Anders before going on to play and coach in the USA Field Hockey world. Post-college, she spent six years as an assistant FH coach at Ball State University and earned her master’s degree in Sports Psychology. After stepping away from collegiate coaching, she continued working with USAFH’s developmental program as a Head Site Coach in St. Louis, Missouri, and an Assistant Coach in Ann Arbor, Michigan. While living in Ohio and Michigan, Dina also enjoyed working with high school athletes through small-group clinics and individual off-season training.

Dina and her husband, Aaron, have three adult children, two of whom work in the NCAA (USF) and NFL (Indianapolis Colts) communities.

Jess Fuschetti - Volunteer Coach

Jess will soon be the PFMS 8th grade Math Teacher beginning in mid-October 2026. For the past 5 years, she's taught and coached at Milton High School, where she created and led their Youth FH program. She also was a PIAA official before coaching.  As a player, she won the 2014 PIAA 2A State FH Championship with Palmyra HS as a forward with scoring skills. She is currently also one of the lead coaches in SCFH Booster’s Youth Program.

Fun Fact:  Jess's identical twin sister is the Middle School FH Coach at Central Columbia.
